I like to keep my diaper bag stocked and ready to go!
You just never know when you might get the feeling to take off on a random adventure, or have an unexpected overnight stay somewhere.
I keep lots of stuff in this bag and it stays in my car all the time. It doesn't come into the house, only for a restock or changing out to bigger sized clothes/diapers.
That way, I know it's there when I need it.
Here is a picture and a list of the things I currently have packed, for this crazy Spring weather.
Base layers I have a spare pair of polyester mix base layers that I found online and second hand, for about $20. They were too big for my son when I originally got them, but figured he would get use out of them at some point.
Fleece onesie These come in a pack of 3, so I always keep one in the car. I've had to use them when spills or blowouts happen and I'm away from home. They're so easy to get on/off and do diaper changes in. They work perfectly as pajamas, too.
Wool zip hooded cardigan I got this as a gift and I love it! It's an Irish wool zip sweater. Cosy, warm, and its wool :) Great for layering.
Two spare outfits These outfits are usually hand me downs or ones I've picked up second hand from the shop. The two in the photo have stains that I can't get out but still fit my son, so they're his back up outfits. I usually pack a short and long sleeved top along with two pairs of pants. One warm pair and one lighter pair.
Fleece bunting Just like the fleece onesie, this fleece bunting is a definite must have. It's great over an outfit for extra warmth or to keep the clothes underneath clean.
Rain suit Because my son doesn't care if it's raining. He wants to be outside regardless. I get most use out of this rain suit during the spring, for that unpredictable weather.
Snow/rain boots and sandals I usually have both of these packed for winter and spring. Although, the sandals will stay for summer. The snow boots lasted this winter and will probably make though this winter, too. I got a size and a half up so I could layer socks underneath. I got the sandals for $8 in Walmart. They will probably just last this summer.
Two pairs of socks and a hat Wet feet aren't fun. These double up well as gloves if you need.
6 diapers, a pack of baby wipes and butt cream A safe amount to get us through a day and night away from home. Also, I pack two Ziplock bags. No one needs a stinky diaper in the car if there's no rubbish bins nearby. Ziplock will help keep the stink at bay.
Small bath towel, light blanket, washcloth and bath soap The basics for bath time
Sun cream, bug spray and hand sanitizer The hand sanitizer comes in handy more than you think. Especially if you are away from any wash room area. Kids pick up the grossest things.
Basic first aid kit, thermometer and infant Tylenol (Calpol) I like to carry a basic first aid kit, along with some infant pain reliever. I got the kit from Walmart for less than $15.
The diaper bag You can use any type of bag. An old backpack or school bag will work. I got this off Amazon, relatively cheap. It has lots of room and pockets for storage. Everything in the picture fits in the bag, with room for more.
Some things I have in the car that aren't shown in the picture are;
Two books
A football
Spare pacifier
Water bottle
Lara bars
I hope you found this list useful, and you're going to get all packed up, prepared, and ready for any unplanned adventure!!
